As the world of financial planning evolves, noted financial planner and presenter Juan Ros, will explore the five key trends that will have the greatest impact on philanthropic giving in the near term:
1. Business succession: Exit planning has exploded into a niche planning area unto itself over the last several years. Gift planners need to be prepared to address the needs of business owner-donors.
2. The rise of crypto and alternative asset classes: These assets can be used as part of a client’s charitable planning, but are charities prepared to accept them?
3. Rising interest rates: The impact of higher rates will ripple across the economy, affecting everything from savings rates to CGA rates and the charitable deduction calculations for CRTs and CLTs.
4. Closer Scrutiny of ESG Investments: Gift planners need to be prepared to discuss ESG and other social impacts with donors who place a high value on those issues.
5. Advanced Tax Planning: Congress continues to focus on increasing revenue, and income tax increases are more likely than not. Further, the estate tax will return as a problem to many households in 2026. Gift planners would be wise to stay abreast of any and all tax strategies that can benefit donors.
